Resistance is Fertile! The Blog of the Tempe Community G(A)rden

We believe that food, water, and shelter are a right, not a privilege for those with money. We refuse to beg for permission to help provide these necessities of life to our community. We encourage that direct action and community building happen concurrently. We see providing a safe space for people to have their needs met as essential to building a strong movement able to resist a societal structure which oppresses us every moment we breathe.

Saturday, 5pm: Community G(A)rden Organizing and Community Building Dinner

Well, we've built a garden twice, and twice it has been torn down. People have been cited, detained, frisked, harassed, and arrested. Many supplies have been stolen, bulldozed, or otherwise destroyed. However, thanks to the coordination of a number of community members, we have saved about 90% of the supplies from the second garden.

I think it's about time we as a community got together to share our hopes and sorrows, break bread together, and talk about what is to be done. No arrest risk, no facilitation, no agenda. Just people who care about this project sitting down to eat and talk together; Talk about how we can build relationships and a community better able to resist oppressive treatment and create a world which nourishes and supports them.

So this is a call out to the folks who helped build the gardens and all the folks who wanted to. All the Food not Bombers, the Critical Massers, and the Occupiers. To the parents, the grandparents, and the students. To the lawyers, the builders, and the journalists. To the people who carry petitions and the people who carry black flags. Let's eat.

Saturday, May 11th 12th, sorry...

This is the Facebook page I have for this particular gardening project. So far as I know there is no other. I haven't done much with it but anyone is welcome to admin if they ask nicely. If you could send me any plans or announcements I could put it on there as well
